Vivent et travaillent \u00e0 Bruxelles, Belgique..<\/p>\n

Les deux artistes se sont rencontr\u00e9s durant leurs \u00e9tudes \u00e0 la Villa Arson, Nice, o\u00f9 ils ont \u00e9t\u00e9 dipl\u00f4m\u00e9s. Ils collaborent sur di\ufb00\u00e9rents projets depuis 2006. Ils produisent simultan\u00e9ment des projets personnels et les projets en duo. Leur duo est marqu\u00e9 par la probl\u00e9matique de la sculpture comme “work event” et \u00e9galement par un penchant pour l’avenir des objets industriels.<\/p>\n

L\u2019\u0153uvre L\u2019onde<\/em> \u00e9voque le retentissement d\u2019une onde de choc. La premi\u00e8re t\u00f4le arbore en son centre un impact produisant une violente d\u00e9formation de la mati\u00e8re et, dans son sillage, d\u2019autres plaques semblent peu \u00e0 peu se redresser. L\u2019impact initial se r\u00e9percute de l\u2019une \u00e0 l\u2019autre jusqu\u2019\u00e0 la derni\u00e8re, indemne, disparaissant progressivement dans une inexorable d\u00e9gressivit\u00e9.<\/p>\n

La sculpture s\u2019inscrit donc au c\u0153ur de leur pratique en duo, qui se d\u00e9ploie le plus souvent dans les champs de la sculpture, de l\u2019installation et de la vid\u00e9o, par la mise en sc\u00e8ne de proc\u00e9d\u00e9s de transformation de la mati\u00e8re orchestr\u00e9s de mani\u00e8re m\u00e9canique, chor\u00e9graphique ou cin\u00e9matographique. Mais ici aucun m\u00e9canisme ne g\u00e9n\u00e8re le mouvement, aucun film ne t\u00e9moigne du processus : la m\u00e9tamorphose se d\u00e9voile en une image fig\u00e9e dans l\u2019espace et dans le temps.<\/p>\n

\u00ab L\u2019onde \u00bb n\u2019est pas simplement une image arr\u00eat\u00e9e, mais la repr\u00e9sentation d\u2019une p\u00e9riode de temps dans l\u2019espace. \u00c0 hauteur d\u2019homme, elle mat\u00e9rialise une distance parcourue dans un temps donn\u00e9, ou l\u2019inverse.<\/p>\n

Both artists met during their studies at the Villa Arson, Nice, where they graduated. They have been collaborating on di\ufb00erent projects since 2006. They simultaneously produce personal projects and duo projects. Their duo is marked by the problematic of sculpture as a “work event” and also by a penchant for the future of industrial objects.<\/em><\/p>\n

The work L’onde evokes the sound of a shock wave. The first plate has an impact in its centre that produces a violent deformation of the material and, in its wake, other plates seem to straighten out little by little. The initial impact reverberates from one to the next until the last, unscathed, gradually disappears in an inexorable degression.<\/em><\/p>\n

Sculpture is thus at the heart of their duo practice, which most often unfolds in the fields of sculpture, installation and video, through the staging of processes of transformation of matter orchestrated in a mechanical, choreographic or cinematographic manner. But here no mechanism generates the movement, no film bears witness to the process: the metamorphosis is revealed in an image frozen in space and time.<\/em><\/p>\n

The “wave” is not simply a still image, but the representation of a period of time in space. At human height, it materialises a distance travelled in a given time, or the reverse.<\/em><\/p>\n
