Malgr\u00e9 le caract\u00e8re \u00e9ph\u00e9m\u00e8re de la grande majorit\u00e9 de ses \u0153uvres \u2013 in situ, soumises \u00e0 reconqu\u00eate par leur environnement et aux d\u00e9gradations climatiques \u2013 son travail a \u00e9t\u00e9 montr\u00e9 dans de tr\u00e8s nombreuses institutions \u00e0 travers le monde et lors de manifestations internationales.<\/p>\n<p>Devenue une des figures majeures du Land Art, l\u2019artiste se d\u00e9fend pourtant d\u2019\u00eatre trop assimil\u00e9 \u00e0 ce mouvement surtout am\u00e9ricain, dans la mesure o\u00f9 il consid\u00e8re ses \u0153uvres plus comme des sculptures personnelles et l\u00e9g\u00e8res que comme des \u00ab monuments \u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Se revendiquant avant tout sculpteur, Richard Long \u00e9volue dans un espace quantifiable, qu\u2019il s\u2019agisse de dur\u00e9e ou d\u2019inscriptions laiss\u00e9es sur place. En utilisant des mat\u00e9riaux qu\u2019il r\u00e9cup\u00e8re dans la nature, et sans se dissocier de son mode de traitement atypique du paysage, l\u2019artiste donne ainsi \u00e0 son \u0153uvre une \u00ab ligne \u00bb directrice et parvient \u00e0 \u00e9tablir un lien entre nature et culture.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-background has-ast-global-color-0-background-color has-ast-global-color-0-color is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The Fondation CAB Saint-Paul-de-Vence, housed in a superb building dating from the 1950s, aims to continue the mission of the Fondation Cab in Brussels, which is dedicated to minimal and conceptual art, through a two-pronged programme: the presentation of the Foundation&#8217;s collection and thematic and seasonal exhibitions. This is complemented by a programme of artists in residence for the winter season.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><b>The CAB Foundation presents RIchard Long<\/b><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>After studying at the West of England College of Art in Bristol and then at Saint Martin&#8217;s School of Arts in London, Richard Long chose to make the whole earth his place of creation and exhibition, working on the scale of the landscape and the rhythm of walking. Despite the ephemeral nature of the vast majority of his works &#8211; in situ, subject to reclamation by their environment and to climatic degradation &#8211; his work has been shown in numerous institutions around the world and at international events.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Having become one of the leading figures of Land Art, the artist nevertheless refuses to be overly assimilated to this mainly American movement, insofar as he sees his works more as personal, lightweight sculptures than as &#8216;monuments&#8217;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Claiming to be above all a sculptor, Richard Long evolves in a quantifiable space, whether it is a question of time or of inscriptions left on the spot.
