Elle renvoie \u00e0 ces riches \u00e9changes \u00e9pistolaires mais aussi au destin tragique de l\u2019une des femmes les plus courageuses du 20e si\u00e8cle en Europe. Inspir\u00e9e d\u2019une photographie d\u2019archive de la fin du 19e si\u00e8cle, l\u2019artiste a r\u00e9alis\u00e9 un portrait \u00e0 l\u2019acrylique sur toile ensuite retravaill\u00e9 en tapisserie. Dans ce tissage jacquard, un masque \u00e9trange, dont la g\u00e9om\u00e9trie rappelle celle d\u2019une cage, contraste avec la texture de la laine reproduisant les gammes chromatiques bleut\u00e9es du portrait. Le masque est r\u00e9alis\u00e9 dans une mati\u00e8re ros\u00e9e et duveteuse qui \u00e9voque une cage \u00e0 oiseau mais \u00e9galement un espace domestique non sans renvoyer \u00e0 la <i>Maison de Poup\u00e9e <\/i>oeuvre th\u00e9\u00e2trale sur la volont\u00e9 d\u2019\u00e9mancipation \u00e9crite exactement \u00e0 la m\u00eame \u00e9poque par Henrik Ibsen.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>L\u2019artiste s\u2019inspire des lettres de Rosa Luxemburg \u00e9crites depuis sa prison, dans lesquelles elle d\u00e9crivait le paysage qu\u2019elle avait sous les yeux. Les \u00e9mouvants comptes-rendus de ses journ\u00e9es racontaient la forme des nuages, toutes sortes d\u2019oiseaux, le bourdonnement des insectes, un morceau de jardin&#8230; Entre les murs de la ge\u00f4le berlinoise o\u00f9 elle veut se tenir comme Goethe \u00ab au-dessus des choses \u00bb (\u00ab Le d\u00e9sastre g\u00e9n\u00e9ral est beaucoup trop grand pour qu\u2019on se lamente \u00e0 son sujet \u00bb), ce panth\u00e9isme tranquille est un recours, et le chant du coq, dans la cour, un enchantement. Tout porte \u00e0 la d\u00e9solation (\u00ab Ou que l\u2019on tende la main on ne trouve que des branches pourries \u00bb) mais l\u2019\u00e9pistoli\u00e8re sensible fait aussi entendre \u00e0 ses correspondants les m\u00e9sanges charbonni\u00e8res qui font ce \u00ab tsvi tsvi \u00bb qu\u2019elle imite si bien pour les faire venir, surtout l\u2019une, son \u00ab amie \u00bb, qui l\u2019accompagne pour la promenade quotidienne, sautillant sur la neige.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Elle \u00e9crira \u00e0 son amie Clara Zetkin : \u00ab \u00c0 vous je peux bien dire tout cela : vous n\u2019irez pas tout de suite me soup\u00e7onner de trahir le socialisme. Vous le savez, j\u2019esp\u00e8re malgr\u00e9 tout que je mourrai \u00e0 mon poste, dans une bataille de rue ou au bagne. Mais mon moi le plus profond appartient plus aux m\u00e9sanges charbonni\u00e8res qu\u2019aux camarades. \u00bb<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Et dans une lettre plus sombre adress\u00e9e \u00e0 Mathilde Jacob elle notera : \u00ab Sur ma tombe, comme dans ma vie, il n\u2019y aura pas de phrases grandiloquentes. Sur la pierre de mon tombeau, on ne lira que deux syllabes : tsvi-tsvi. C\u2019est le chant des m\u00e9sanges charbonni\u00e8res que j\u2019imite si bien qu\u2019elles accourent aussit\u00f4t. \u00bb<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">Giulia Andreani est repr\u00e9sent\u00e9e par la <\/span><a style=\"font-size: 1rem;\" href=\"https:\/\/bis-art.com\/index.php\/galerie-max-hetzler\/\">Galerie Max Hetzler<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-background has-ast-global-color-0-background-color has-ast-global-color-0-color is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 22\">\n<div class=\"section\">\n<div class=\"layoutArea\">\n<div class=\"column\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"column\">\n<p><em>The artwork designed by Giulia Andreani for the Biennale de Saint-Paul-de-Vence depicts Rosa Luxemburg as a child, surrounded by her winged \u201ccomrades\u201d. It recalls the rich exchange of letters, but also the tragic fate of one of the most courageous women in 20th-century Europe. Inspired by an archive photograph from the late 19th century, the artist created an acrylic portrait on canvas, which was then reworked into a tapestry. In this jacquard weave, a strange mask, whose geometry recalls a cage, contrasts with the texture of the wool reproducing the bluish chromatic ranges of the portrait. The mask is made from a pinkish, fluffy material that evokes a birdcage but also a domestic space and is reminiscent of Henrik Ibsen\u2019s A Doll\u2019s House, a play about the desire for emancipation written at the same time.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Inspired by Rosa Luxemburg\u2019s letters written from prison, the artist reproduces the landscape Rosa had before her eyes \u2014 a piece of garden, the shape of clouds, all kinds of birds, the buzzing of insects \u2014 and the writing of moving accounts of her days. Within the walls of the Berlin cell, where, like Goethe, she wants to remain \u201cabove things\u201d (\u201cThe general disaster is far too great to be lamented\u201d), this quiet pantheism is a recourse, and the crowing of the cock in the courtyard an enchantment. Everything leads to desolation (\u201cWherever you put your hand, all you find are rotten branches\u201d), but the sensitive letter writer also lets her correspondents hear the great titmice making that \u201ctsvi tsvi\u201d that she imitates so well to make them come to her, especially one, her \u201cfriend\u201d, who accompanies her on her daily walk, hopping across the snow.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>She wrote to her friend Clara Zetkin: \u201cI can tell you all this: you won\u2019t immediately suspect me of betraying socialism. As you know, I hope despite everything that I will die at my post, in a street fight or in prison. But my deepest self belongs more to the tits than to the comrades.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>And in a darker letter to Mathilde Jacob, she wrote: \u201cOn my tombstone, as in my life, there will be no grandiloquent phrases. Only two syllables will be written on the stone of my tomb: tsvi-tsvi.
